There are no top-up machines available at the majority of Sydney's light rail network stops. Therefore this app is useful for topping up your card before travelling. Opal cards are accepted by bus, train and light rail networks throughout the system. Opal cards are not accepted on aircraft. Ensure a smooth, efficient, safe and comfortable journey by using the Opal travel app.

1) if train is late, app does not show it as an option. Google maps do. 2) Buses schedule is not correct, got stranded twice in one day 3) no trains, ever on the weekend. Today schedules do not match real trains, including wrong platforms. Wasted 1 hour trying to get home. Not all trains are shown. Pathetic, 3rd world country service, both trains and app.

Even though I have auto top up enabled it regularly fails to top up. I then have to login to their painful app and set up auto top up again. This of course happens just when your public transport has arrived and there is no time to fix it.
