Update: The calendar finally started working but stopped again. I haven't been able to use it since January. It says, "There was an error loading your calendar." Once again, I have signed out and back in. Then, I uninstalled and reinstalled the app. I gave it 2 stars because the calendar does not work. It just keeps telling me there was an error in loading my students calendar. I have refreshed it, Uninstalled the app and reinstalled it. I still cannot get the calendar to work.

Apparently fixing broken features in the app is not available for K-12 users. The issue I experienced was never corrected, actually got worse after I started a ticket for help, and my follow up email for more information was ignored completely. If there are any other K-12 districts considering using Canvas to support their students, I don't recommend it as a parent at all.

The latest update is awful. It used to have one semester visible, now it has the entire year and it's not even in chronological order anymore. Different teachers use the app in different ways and it's a mess to understand if work has been turned in or not and if it's accurately graded. Assignments will often say submitted and graded but have a score of zero until the teacher manually adjusts them. Assignments will appear and automatically be graded at 50% which will drop the overall grade.
