The recent update seems to have changed the behavior around ambient mode. When streaming music, after a few minutes, the tv will go into ambient instead of just displaying the larger artist cover art as it did before. It's particularly frustrating because you can't do daily jump back into Spotify with the back button at the point. you're taken all the way to the Home Screen and must nav back in. please look into this!

Spotify works well on both my 2018 and 2024 Sony TV's and a Google Chromecast 4k hooked up to a LG TV, (at least for me). My only real complaint about Spotify for Android/Google TV is the lack of features compared to mobile or web app, I've used the TV app since 2017 and aside from some cosmetic changes there has been very little added. Just the ability to hide songs and artists you don't like would be welcomed, and the addition of Artist bio info, both of which are really good features of the mobile and web app.

This version was installed on my "Chromecast with Google TV" and seems to be somewhat lacking in features. My biggest complaint is the poor volume normalisation. For example, it's impossible to relax even to 'easy listening' music when everyone is in bed because I need to be constantly mindful of adjusting the volume. Even when playing tracks from same albums, the volume is all over the place. It's one of Spotify's biggest flaws.
